The Reiki Therapist

Hello, and welcome to Healing Spirit Therapies! the "Therapies" in my business name refer to the modalities of psychotherapy, Reiki, Healing Touch, Eden Energy Medicine and chair massage.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

I am a licensed certified social worker, licensed by the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board, and have been practicing psychotherapy since 2000. I have gained experience in a local mental health community center, working there for about five and a half years. I also worked as social work supervisor and bereavement coordinator at a local not-for-profit hospice for three and a half years. I have been in private practice since 2008.

I believe in taking a heart-centered approach to the physcial, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues that life throws at each of us. This includes cognitive/behavioral work, guided visualization, meditation, breathwork, and other techniques, all within a framework of unconditional positive caring and compassion. I work with my clients to identify and clarify problem areas in order to increase daily coping skills. I work in the areas of grief and bereavement, depression, anxiety, trauma, stage-of-life issues, and more. I believe that all issues are essentially issues of the spirit; for those who wish to specifically address spiritual/religious issues, spiritual direction and/or "friendship" is offered.

ENERGY HEALING WORK

I took my first Reiki class in summer of 2003 and have been doing energy work ever since. In 2008 I received the ART/Master level atturnement through a teacher licensed with the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) and took Karuna Practitioner and Master training and attunements in autumn of 2010. My most recent Reiki training is Holy Fire II/Karuna Reiki Master training in June 2017. I have found energy healing to be an invaluable tool for working with all kinds of physical, emotional, and spiritual concerns. I teach Holy Fire II/Usui and Karuna Reiki classes, using manuals provided through the ICRT.

I began training in Healing Touch in May of 2010, through the Healing Touch Program based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I've taken the first four levels of Healing Touch and am considered an apprentice in this modality.

My training in Eden Energy Medicine began in the autumn of 2013 with a month-long training at Omega Institute at Rhinebeck, NY. I have since finished three years of Eden training, become a clinical practitioner in 2016.

I work hard to continue my education in the various healing modalities and am always learning something new to help my clients as well as applying the new techniques to myself.

CHAIR MASSAGE

I received 500 hours of massage training in spring of 2009 through the NWA School of Massage in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and am licensed in massage by the State of Arkansas. I have practiced various modalities of bodywork and massage since that time, but I have chosen to limit my massage practice to chair massage and energy healing modalities. I utilize trigger point work when needed, and generally use Swedish massage techniques to help ease painful necks, shoulders, backs, arms and hands, and scalp.
